Rocker Celebrates Australian Truffle Season with Produce-Driven Dinner Series
Diners will be treated to five truffle-infused courses, and handpicked wines by Frederick Stevenson
North Bondi restaurant and bar, Rocker today announces details of its 2023 Truffle Dinner series, which will take place across four evenings this winter: 29th June – where, due to popular demand, very limited spaces remain, 13th July, 27th July and 10th August.
The carefully curated menu features five sharing-style courses, and there will be the option to add paired wines to the experience, which have been carefully handpicked by celebrated South Australian winemaker, Steve Crawford of Frederick Stevenson.
Diners will be treated to dishes including wagyu beef tartare, truffle mayo and shoestring fries on arrival, followed by deliciously moreish truffle glazed parker rolls. The latter will be accompanied by local burrata and truffle salami – which will be topped with lashings of fresh truffle.
Elsewhere dishes include truffled chitarra coupled with parmesan dashi, egg yolk jam, aged parmesan and truffle, and a wagyu eye-fillet served with truffle jus and slow braised truffled short-rib croquette for the main.
The experience wouldn’t be complete without something sweet, and team Rocker will be serving up a house made truffled Basque cheesecake, alongside a generous pouring of truffle honey for dessert.
Each dish will showcase Australian black truffles from Manjimup, Western Australia – the most prolific truffle growing region in the Southern Hemisphere, which will be freshly unearthed by Australian Truffle Traders’ Gavin and Mel Booth, one of Australia's most experienced truffle families.
The experience is priced at $120 per person, and a vegetarian option is available for $90 per person. Meanwhile, paired wines are priced at an additional $65 per person.
Stuart Toon, Head Chef/Co-Owner at Rocker says: “Rocker’s food philosophy is all about supporting local artisan producers, whilst serving up dishes that we genuinely love to eat ourselves, all paired with good wines and great company. So, we’re excited to be bringing our Truffle Dinner series to Sydneysiders this winter, where we’ll be shining a spotlight on the unique flavours and versatility of the humble truffle.
“Whether it’s a special occasion, date night, or a luxurious escape from the cold just because, these dinners are not to be missed, especially when enjoyed with the carefully selected range of award-winning Frederick Stevenson wines.”
Commenting on the series’ wine pairings, Steve Crawford of Frederick Stevenson adds: “We’ve carefully selected varietals for Rocker’s Truffle Dinner series that have a nice texture and balance between tannins and acidity, and are not overbearing and intense nor one dimensional and diffuse, and in doing so perfectly complement each respective dish.
“From a barrel fermented, textural Chardonnay to medium bodied Montepulciano, with these wines we aim to give diners a true feeling of the variety’s character and charm, while also expressing the growing season that they were made from.”
