The Entertainment Quarter launches new, one of a kind summer food, drink and music festival series
The Entertainment Quarter, Sydney's iconic entertainment, dining and leisure precinct, today announces the launch of a new festival series. Running during December and January, it will feature two unique event offerings: EQ Dining Festival, and EQ Sunday Festival.
Taking over the precinct on Thursdays between 5pm-11pm from 1st December, EQ Dining Festival promises to be a vibrant cultural hub of food, drink and music, perfect for after work drinks and get-togethers with friends.
Here visitors can expect to dine on dishes from a selection of Australia’s leading street food connoisseurs, including Agape Organic, FIREPOP, Happy As Larry Pizza Truck, The Kofte Lab, Emmys Gourmet Gozleme and StroopBros.
There will be an extensive range of specially crafted cocktails, premium craft beers, boutique wines and non-alcoholic beverages to sit back and sip on as the sun goes down, with a number of renowned local and international brands set to pop up throughout the experience.
This will be complemented by a regularly changing line up of established and emerging electronic artists and bands, specially curated by Nomad Radio presenter, DJ Dame of Honey Point. December highlights include performances by Ella Haber, Don Glori, Simon TK and Zjoso.
Descending on the Entertainment Quarter on Sundays from 11th December between 10am-4pm, EQ Sunday Festival is set to become the ultimate family friendly day out. It will similarly feature an extensive food, drink and music offering, albeit curated for adults and children alike.
Think a coffee stall from Bar Positano, freshly shaken lemonade by The Citrus Factory, and dishes, including healthy options, from the likes of Agape Organic, Happy As Larry Pizza Truck, Loaded Gourmet Hotdogs and new dessert bar on the scene, The Beans & Greens Co to enjoy as inspiring live bands, acoustic acts and DJs such as Dre & The Giants, Jeremy Gregory, Cavan Te and Cass Greaves play in the background.
Bean bags, soft play blocks, and a garden games area featuring multiple table tennis tables, and life-sized Guess Who and Kerplunk installations will adorn the space, and a regularly changing program of workshops for both the little ones and adults will be running each Sunday.
Workshops will cover arts and crafts by the non-profit art collective The CRUD Muffins, as well as music focused activities, and there will be a bespoke marketplace experience featuring activations for children, and a curated selection of makers and creators.
In a move designed to make the most of the Sydney summer, the events will be held outside, yet feature areas for soaking up the sun, as well as undercover spaces. They will be the perfect spot to unwind with friends and colleagues, and keep the kids entertained – rain, hail or shine – on Thursdays and Sundays.
Commenting on the launch of the new festival series, Michael Hodgson, Chief Executive Officer at the Entertainment Quarter says: “There’s nothing quite like summer in the city, and this will especially be the case in 2022-23, following several years of pandemic related restrictions.
“We wanted to give back to Sydneysiders and visitors alike over the warmer months, and what better way to do so, than by providing them with a go-to destination that they know will consistently deliver a premium food, drink, music and play experience on an ongoing basis, all in the unique surrounds of the conveniently located Entertainment Quarter. We look forward to welcoming guests to this new food, drink and music festival series from Thursday, 1st December.”
